A team of 10 Taekwon-do TKDPower™ students entered into the 2015 Unified Taekwondo World Championships in Hertfordshire, Sports Village which lasted over 3 days 10th11th and 12th July.
At this event there was over 700 competitors from 19 different countries there were teams from as far as New Zealand, Australia, south Africa, Argentina, USA and many more country's from around the world.
The team brought home an impressive 9 medals. One of the most impressive results of the day went to Sarah Godden,17, who got Gold in Black Belt Junior Sparring to became World Champion for the second time, she also got a Bronze in 2nd Dan Black Belt Patterns.
Harvey Baldwin , 15 from Dover got to the final in sparring and patterns in the junior blue/red belt division only narrowly missing out on being world champion ... having to settle for 2 silver medals. Still a massive achievement on this world stage!
We also had Mother and Daughter competing - Judy Berisha and Kirsty Embleton. Judy got to the final in colour belt Veteran sparring and also narrowly missed out on Gold. Kirsty only just missed out on gold in the Adult female heavy weight colour belt division going out to a Polish red belt competitor, to add to her Bronze in patterns.
The rest of the medals went to Jack Challinor, 17, who got Bronze in Blue/Red Belt Heavyweight Sparring, Jordan Bourne Age 15 also got Bronze in Red Belt lightweight junior Sparring who unfortunately had to fight in the semi final with a broken toe.
Our youngest competitor Alistair Siddons, 10, of Dover won Bronze in colour belt patterns -a big achievement and excellent performance considering this was his first ever competition. There were also excellent performances from Joshua Taylor in Adult Heavyweight Colour Belt Sparring. Also Great performances for Instructors Stuart Tree 3rd Dan Black Belt Ashford Instructor and Matthew Godden, also a 3rd Dan Black Belt, in the Veteran Division in Sparring and Patterns.
